"Words" by F.R. David
This is a kinetic typography motion graphics film that I created for the song “Words” by F.R. David. This song was released in 1982, which inspired the 80s aesthetic seen in this motion graphic film.

Mood Board
In the first stage of the process, I created a mood board which helped me establish the overall theme and mood that I wanted to convey in my project. My mood board was built off of the 80s theme and framed my inspiration for incorporating neon colors, string light designed words, and 1980s related assets such as radios, record players, disco lights, and old TVs.

Storyboard
My goal with this project was to animate the words as well as the assets to bring the song and the 1980s back to life! After creating the mood board, I created a storyboard that established the specific scenes of my film, the timing, and the visual assets that I needed to create.

Designing Assets
Once I established the story I wanted to follow and the visuals that accompany each scene, I dove into Adobe Illustrator and began designing the graphic elements. I designed the following assets that were reflective of the 1980s.

Final Video
From there, I began putting my project together in After Effects. I matched the words to the song, animated the words and assets, and incorporated special effects. Through this piece, I wanted to use design and animation to evoke emotions of love and nostalgia for the 1980s. I performed post-production work in Premiere Pro and shared my project at the NYU Integrated Design & Media Film Festival.
